Our mission is to enhance our community through active,
committed and civic minded participation.
“Beginning a New Century of Service”
Welcome to the Woman’s Club of Indio (WCI) the oldest service organization in the Coachella Valley. We were founded in 1912 and this past February we celebrated 100 years of community service. Our club consists of active, civic minded members who firmly believe that what we do makes a difference in our community, which is why we have thrived for a century and are still going strong. We are a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC).
During the last year, our support of the community included much more than just financial donations; we have given of our time and our skills. We created opportunities that enhanced and united us toward a better tomorrow. Thanks to the support of our members, the business community and the City we have been able to provide financial assistance in many areas of need. We awarded $6,500 in scholarships, $6,600 to the Animal Care Center, $2,000 worth of books in our Read Across Indio Literacy Project, $1,000 to the Indio Police Dept. K-9 Unit, $1,000 to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and we have pledged $10,000 to the Coachella Valley History Museum for the restoration of Pioneer Hall. Our group also believes in hands on projects that include serving meals at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, food drives, Arbor Day planting events and much more!
As a member of our organization we receive so much more than we give. Lifelong friendships are established and the ability to get to meet dedicated and talented women is invaluable. Please take a moment to navigate through our website, www.womansclubofindio.org and get acquainted with WCI. We invite you to join us and to give back to the community through membership in our wonderful organization.
I look forward to a new club year filled with exciting events and projects.
