Scholarship Opportunities

Woman's Club of Indio scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, community service, and financial need.  The size of scholarships awarded is based on the number of qualified candidates each year and the amount available in the scholarship fund.  Applications are accepted NOW through April 12th and new and returning applicants may apply.  Empowering Women Scholars may reapply for a Renewal Grant only one time.

Each May, a special Scholarship Awards Luncheon is held and GFWC Woman’s Club of Indio invites scholarship recipients to meet club members, receive their awards, and share their experiences.  For more information, please email:  [email protected].

GFWC Woman’s Club of Indio offers two scholarship programs:

  • High School Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide educational assistance to deserving Indio High School seniors as they embark on attending college or university.

  • Empowering Women through Education Scholarship.  In 2008, GFWC Woman’s Club of Indio established the Empowering Women through Education Scholarship program. This scholarship is an award to help a mature woman with her educational and/or vocational training when entering or reentering the workforce for the financial security of her family.

The General Federation of Women's Clubs also offers a scholarship for survivors of abuse:

  • GFWC Success for Survivors Scholarship.    This scholarship was created in 2012 to lend a helping hand to those impacted by intimate partner violence who are pursuing higher education. The scholarship aims to provide survivors with a means to achieve both financial and personal independence.  Applicants must apply directly to GFWC for this scholarship.
